EWMA announced on June 11th the launch of the “EWMA grants for innovative Diabetic Foot Ulcer projects supported by Urgo Medical”.

A unique partnership between EWMA and Urgo Medical

20 000 euros to support innovative projects to improve diabetic foot ulcer care

DIABETIC FOOT ULCER, A PUBLIC HEALTH CHALLENGE

Diabetic foot ulcers are one of the major complications of diabetes. Each day that a patient with diabetes has a foot ulcer, there is the risk of infection and amputation. With one amputation carried out every 20 seconds, diabetes is the world’s leading cause of amputation1.

This alarming figure reflects a genuine public health challenge, both for patients suffering from a potentially life-threatening condition, and for healthcare systems.

SUPPORTING PROJECTS TO IMPROVE DIABETIC FOOT ULCER CARE

To face this public health challenge, the EWMA and Urgo Medical have decided to join forces to launch the “EWMA grants for innovative Diabetic Foot Ulcer projects supported by Urgo Medical”.

The aim of this initiative is to promote innovative projects to improve diabetic foot ulcer prevention, treatment and management.

This partnership with EWMA is a further testimony to our long-term commitment to support innovative solutions to face this health issue” says Laurent Faugère, Urgo Medical CEO.
